Accepted to SMU School of Economics!!!! omg omg!! so happy!! Cant believe that my dreams came through!!! I still cant believe that i'm accepted to the school that has the highest cutoff for econs!! Cant think straight now.. but i'm really thankful to all that supported me during my down periods after As results especially Mr Wong who told me to never give up(: Indeed hard work pays off and the interviewers r convinced that i really want a place in SMU! After all my daily reading and noting down stuff related to econs in the straits times! Omg! Its like a dream come true~
Alrights, shall end off this short post with a song that describes exactly how I'm feeling right now! Ohhh I wanna dance with somebody~
I think the title of my post describes a lot of stuff happening in my life now...
okay... an update on my uni application status..
I'm accepted to NUS.. yea... but unfortunately not FASS.. I was given my 2nd choice, project and facilities management. I think a lot of ppl do not know such course actually existed in NUS, but its quite interesting... its like a course that prepares u in the built environment. There's elements of econs, psychology, engineering and soft skills like team management, leadership, cos you're afterall gonna go out being a project manager, heading a grp of ppl under ur team to build new buildings, facilities.. yups.. interesting.. but not where my passion lies.. hahas..
Secondly, just got an email from MOE, stating that I'm shortlisted for an interview on 10th May, for the Banchelor of Arts (hist) course i applied to teach in sec sch. I think its better news to me as compared to NUS even though its just an interview compared to an acceptance. But hey, this is in line of what i want to do and i know i will enjoy. I've always told myself, I definitely wanna further my studies in the arts and humanities section! Till now, i still enjoy history though i didnt do exceptional well in jc and I like sec sch hist more than jc! Hahas! I think i will be content if i ever end up with this course which is my 2nd choice in NTU. But this doesnt mean that NTU econs have rejected me... cos its stated in their email that i'm concurrently being considered for my other choices.. so there's hope for the course i really want!
As for SMU and NTU econs.. no reply.. still waiting... perhaps they are saving the best for last i hope?? Trying to be optimistic! I read somewhere online that one way to make urself happier is to stop worrying abt things u cannot control or change. So yups, I'll wait for them to come!
On my social life, I met up with a few unexpected ppl! I met mrs joan lim, my sec 3/4 physics teacher on the way home on bus 155! I just realised her mum lives super near where i used to live! I was so happy to see another teacher i'm close to! And even glad to know she remembers my name:) She's still the same, as cute as ever.. bubbly type, she was so happily telling me stories abt her life and even continued to sms me after we separated that day! Hahas!
Ysd, i left early from work to celebrate erika's bday! Was supposed to meet her at Parkway at 4pm.. i dropped at the roxy sq bus stop and i almost got lost trying to find my way from that building to the link to bus stop at parkway... so much for living and schooling ard that area for 10 years! Met erika first cos ranice was late.... as usual~ and just happen that day starbucks were having their 1-for-1 offer for their mocha drink and some strawberry drink.. cant rmb their exact names, so erika and i decided to queue for it:) Mich, andrea, eunice and clarissa soon came to join us! Was so sos looking forward to seeing them..Mich got into SMU biz! Happy for her(: hopefully we both we'll go same sch, with zulaiha too!I missed saying eunice's name at that super high pitched voice, and seeing clarissa fight with eunice.. these 2 r cute ppl.. and taking many many photos with mich.. that dear 2nd I/C i have:) Ranice joined us much later... like an 1h later?? We then made our way to the food village at east coast! Was happy to see all of them! Ranice was like ranting at zulaiha at almost every q. she asked... that sight was super funny! Siew yan came to join us later! Was so happy to see her! Ranice chose that place cos she wanted to eat her zhuzhu? I dunno how to spell it! Its some shell thingy... like some seafood.. its so funny to see her eat 'barbaricly' accoding to sy! And erika and clarissa trying to get the flesh from the small hole in the shell! Hahahaha!
After our dinner, we just strolled along the beach.. i had htht session with erika and sy.. it just occured to me that i find it easier to talk and share my feelings whenever i'm along the beach. With a few stars and a cresent moon and the sea breeze just made the right mood. Thank u sy and erika for ur sharing session and providing a listening ear. It really made me see things from more perspectives.
Lastly, my favourite 'clubbing' song.. cos i'll go boping my head to and fro when i listen to this song! And darren criss is so suave and sounds super gd in the video! Love his voice to the max! I actually love almost all the songs in the glee episode to commemorate whitney houston, but this is my fav! So enjoy! I wish i looked that cool when i'm angry at ppl :P
Okay... here's an update of this week's happenings!
Mon was my SMU interview for the School of Economics:) Met abt 7 other budding soon-to-be Economists! I didnt realise all of us have put econs as first choice and are very interested in the subject:) Met someone else from MJ, mingzhuo, its a gd to see a familiar face. The senior we chatted with was very friendly and nice that he helped us to relieve the tense emotion within all of us before the interview.
We had 2 male professors as our interviewers, they're all very nice and friendly ppl. And the interview really isnt as scary as i thought it would be! I volunteered to be the first speaker for both of the questions asked and I stated abt my interests in econs and why smu in particular and also asked them abt the CIP opportunities and shared with them in long-term goal. In my opinion, i think i'm quite satisfied with my own performance though i stammered a bit at the start... I just hope I've covered up sufficient grounds and convinced the 2 professors that i really want a place in SMU economics!
I think i'm too anxious for their reply that every single day I'm going to their portal to check my application status :X Really really hope I can get to study econs! Especially SMU seems to be the best place to study econs in singapore and i like their small class ratio. Pls SMU, give me a reply soon soon!
Tue, I met up with bestie to catch up! That girl had U-town interview in the morning! So we just talked abt uni stuff and I just heard that girl got double acceptance to University of British Columbia and U-town! Congrats! :) I hope I'll get the feeling of joy from uni acceptance like her soon! We went toys R us to play with the cute cute soft toys and relive our childhood! hahahas!

Thurs! Met up with Veron and Danielle for sakae buffet! Its been a long long time since we ate sushi!! As usual, the 3 of us r laughing so hard at all the funny things and memories we had in KC! And i was laughing so hard at one of the restraunt crew at sakae that i 'paired' up with danielle by teasing her and insisting the guy was interested in her cos he raised his eyebrowns at her and strike sudden conversations with us! HAHHAAHHA! That was super funny! Ohh! Veron's bloated expression after eating too much sushi was funny tooo! :D Elaine soon came along after her CIP:) Accompanied elaine to the food court for her dinner! We then walked to the esplanade to watch KC Choir Concert. Saw a couple of familar faces we havent seen for 2 years was a gd feeling, seeing the new batch of councillors in their white u and court shoes rushing around reminded me of who i was 3 years ago... hahas.. i miss those days. I had also invited ms koh, our sec 4 form teacher and bio teacher to the concert:) But she's was going to be late, so i left her ticket at the door. The choir's opening song was beautiful life by corraine may! ohhh.. i just love that song! Hearing a choir sing the song that song was very refreshing:) Also, its been a very long time since i heard an all girls choir sing:). The first segment before the intermission was the more formal and 'serious' songs, they also performed their syf piece! And yes, the choir had improved a lot! I'm proud they sound much better than my batch and I'm glad they really do. Ms koh made it in time for the 2nd part! Was so happy to see her! Its like the feeling of old friends seeing each other after a very long time! :) For the 2nd part, the choir sang songs from the phantom of the opera, wicked, sound of music! I was so jealous of them! I wished that i got a chance to perform those songs during my term in choir! After the concert, we chatted a bit, i catch up a bit with ms koh, she seriously never changed much! I could sense she looked tired, yet she still made an effort to drive all the way here to see us! so sweet of her! And her expression was really cute when i told her that she never changed, she smiled and exclaimed like some small little girl! hahahas! Will really miss her! Hope we'll have more KC events! Its like a gathering point for all my KC grp of friends!
Shortlisted for SMU (School of Economics) interview
Omg omg! I was really stunned when i received the call from SMU ysd!!! At first i doubted the course that called me.. i thought it was SMU infocomm cos thats the only course that my rank points met the cutoff... but i cant believe the sch that has the highest rank points for econs would be the first sch to call me! I was seriously in daze after the call.. cos i couldnt believe it!! hehe! My colleagues at work were all happy for me(: I think they have tried calling me since mon but i was always unavailable becos I was at work... think they called me 3 times before they finally got through me on fri since there wasnt any students and was called back to clear the marking! So excited!! My interview is this coming mon! Excited and nervous at the same time! I really really hope I'll do well, give my best and all so i can do myself justice! Cant believe I'm so overjoyed by just receiving news that I'm shortlisted, I'll be over the moon if I get accepted!
Admist all the happiness and joy, I'm down with flu and cough:( I didnt even go to work today.. sighs.. must faster faster get well! Must have been my night snackings on tao kae noi Tom Yum seaweed:(
Have a couple of gatherings, Mon met up with Adrian, von, joan, jun jie and Thomas... like finally.. I met up with them. We sent adrian and leroy off and oh my.. all the NS guys look the same!! I seriously dunno how they differentiate one another:P Later, we ate at buddy hoagies where mummy is working. First time eating there:P and the food is nice! Von and I ordered some cheese grilled fish! On Tue, met up with a couple of ppl from 403, to celebrate xf's bday! Ate at soup spoon and I think i'm getting sick of that place:P The guys were super funny from the way they ate their bread:P Fri, met up with felicia with veron since felicia is going to start poly soon! Then there'll be fewer chances of us meeting! Ate at swenson's and we just went shopping ard... we went to this pet shop and saw this dog eating eating newspaper in its cage! It must have been so hungry that its eating newspaper! But i dunno why the shopkeepers didnt do anything abt it! >:( The shi tzu and pomeranian r super super cute! Wish i could carry one home!
Okay... gotta go back to my preparation for mon's interview! Wish me all the luck u have! Hahahas! :P
I should seriouly stop worrying abt uni application outcome!>.< Its getting on my nerves each day... Every single time i see someone posting online that they have receive a call from any uni for interview or receiving a letter that they are accepted to so and so uni.. I feel happy for them.. honestly... but there's always this sinking feeling in my heart on why I havent gotten any? Am i really not fated to get into econs? I dont mind going NIE, really... i enjoy teaching and I think its a really fulfiling career and I like interaction with ppl! But, there's always this doubt that I may not be suited to be a teacher... and i cannot give them the best of what the singapore education are able to and push them to the fullest potential in both academic and character-building aspect. Getting a banchelor of arts (education) degree means my only route is a teacher.. so what happens i realise i'm not gd enough in future? I cant switch jobs. While working in kumon, there are times I wish i could have done so much more to help the kids there.. and improve the way i teach and go home each day with a sense of satisfaction.
As what danielle have said, I shld stop thinking so much and just take one step at a time and she believes that I will be a gd teacher.. so sweet of her:) I've been thinking from the day I received my As results till now.. i realised that really wanna have a job that is somehow related to teaching. So whether i get into the econs course or NIE I will be able to teach and I shld be content. I really hope i can change my worrysome mindset so i can be happier! There are so many other things to find pleasure in! As the saying goes miracles happen when you least expect them...
Ysd went out for dinner with colleagues at kumon toa payoh:) Didi was so excited to eat her ban mian! Hahas! We shld have more bonding time tgt! They brought me ard toa payoh to find all the cheapest deals for shoes and clothes that are nice:) I feel like getting a pair of those flat oxford shoes! Like the vintage feel(:

Thurs! Met up with Veron and Danielle for sakae buffet! Its been a long long time since we ate sushi!! As usual, the 3 of us r laughing so hard at all the funny things and memories we had in KC! And i was laughing so hard at one of the restraunt crew at sakae that i 'paired' up with danielle by teasing her and insisting the guy was interested in her cos he raised his eyebrowns at her and strike sudden conversations with us! HAHHAAHHA! That was super funny! Ohh! Veron's bloated expression after eating too much sushi was funny tooo! :D Elaine soon came along after her CIP:) Accompanied elaine to the food court for her dinner! We then walked to the esplanade to watch KC Choir Concert. Saw a couple of familar faces we havent seen for 2 years was a gd feeling, seeing the new batch of councillors in their white u and court shoes rushing around reminded me of who i was 3 years ago... hahas.. i miss those days. I had also invited ms koh, our sec 4 form teacher and bio teacher to the concert:) But she's was going to be late, so i left her ticket at the door. The choir's opening song was beautiful life by corraine may! ohhh.. i just love that song! Hearing a choir sing the song that song was very refreshing:) Also, its been a very long time since i heard an all girls choir sing:). The first segment before the intermission was the more formal and 'serious' songs, they also performed their syf piece! And yes, the choir had improved a lot! I'm proud they sound much better than my batch and I'm glad they really do. Ms koh made it in time for the 2nd part! Was so happy to see her! Its like the feeling of old friends seeing each other after a very long time! :) For the 2nd part, the choir sang songs from the phantom of the opera, wicked, sound of music! I was so jealous of them! I wished that i got a chance to perform those songs during my term in choir! After the concert, we chatted a bit, i catch up a bit with ms koh, she seriously never changed much! I could sense she looked tired, yet she still made an effort to drive all the way here to see us! so sweet of her! And her expression was really cute when i told her that she never changed, she smiled and exclaimed like some small little girl! hahahas! Will really miss her! Hope we'll have more KC events! Its like a gathering point for all my KC grp of friends!
